I saw this article from a teacher who brings the first day of school up to par with both traditional get to know you strategies as well as using technology. I like this idea, because in my classroom I will be using plenty of tools using students' smart phones, laptops, ipods etc. I feel that this effectively sets an example right from the beginning of how this year will unfold. I really love the idea of making a Pinterest board of 10 things that represent you! I will definitely be using this tool not usually used for education purposes!
